Earlier this summer, we announced that updates to our popular Fire Weather Intelligence Portal were in the works. The past few months have seen more progress on those updates, and we’re excited to share the changes and a full overview of the Portal and its capabilities as we begin a regional rollout.
The first two events in the rollout are coming up later this month, and both are open for registration now:
Southeast Monthly Climate Webinar
On Tuesday, September 24 from 10:00 to 11:00 am ET, we will be presenting as part of the Southeast Monthly Climate Webinar Series organized by the Southeast Regional Climate Center and NIDIS.
- Content: This will include a 20 to 25-minute overview of the Portal, including its history and key features, with several of the new updates highlighted
- Audience: This webinar is geared toward a more general audience, but content will be applicable for land owners and natural resource managers
- Registration: Required using this link via GoToWebinar
Region-Wide Webinar for Fire Managers
On Monday, September 30 from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm ET, we will present on a dedicated Fire Weather Intelligence Portal Webinar hosted by the US Forest Service and the USDA Southeast Regional Climate Hub.
- Content: This will include a more detailed review of the Portal and its datasets, including example applications and time for users to explore and ask questions
- Audience: This webinar is designed for fire chiefs, fire managers, regional and district foresters, and others with official management or fire response duties in states across the Southeast US
- Registration: Required using this link via Microsoft Teams
Both webinars will be recorded, and the videos will be posted and shared here on The underSTORY Blog. Additional rollout and training information will be shared as it becomes available over the next few months.
