The third winter storm of the month caused heavy snow across the northern parts of the mountains, foothills, and piedmont. In the Northeast Piedmont and Northern Coastal Plain, most of the precipitation fell as sleet and freezing rain. This caused some damage to power lines, and minor structural damage. Snowfall amounts were mostly 5 to 7 inches, but reached 10 inches in isolated spots.
